Pam Pack swimmers do well at regional meet

Several Pam Pack swimmers turned in state-qualifying efforts at Saturday’s Class 3-A East Regional meet in Goldsboro.
The state meet will be held Saturday at the Willis R. Casey Aquatic Center at N.C. State University.
Preliminaries begin at 9:15 a.m. and finals are slated to start at 5 p.m.

Girls (13th with 75 points)
Anna Pfeiffer took the regional gold medal by placing first in the 100 yard breast stroke in 1:10.10. She also took third in the 200 free in 2:02.21.
Shannon Niederhauser captured seventh in the 50 free (27.56) and 15th in the 100 free (1:03.26).
The 200 free relay team of Shelby Smithwick, Leanna McFadden, Shannon Niederhauser and Anna Pfeiffer placed fourth in a 1:51.34 clocking.
The 200 medley relay team of Jessie Howard, Anna Pfeiffer, Shannon Niederhauer and Shelby Smithwick took seventh in 2:07.46.
The 400 free relay foursome of Jessie Howard, Brittany Jackson, Leanna McFadden and Shelby Smithwick was 21st (4:35.27).
Jessie Howard was 20th in the 500 free (6:34.97) and 20th in the 100 breast stroke (1:22.37).

Boys (8th with 117 points)
The 200 free relay team of Will Davis, Brandon Niederhauser, Luke Stroud and Ted Hodges captured fourth in 1:38.75.
The 400 free relay quartet of Brandon Niederhauser, Luke Stroud, Dayne Winstead and Ted Hodges placed fifth with a 3:44.61 clocking.
The 200 medley relay team of Dayne Winstead, Will Davis, York Winstead and Luke Stroud took 10th in 1:57.26.
Ted Hodges finished 11th in the 100 free in 54.54 seconds; he was DQ’d in the 200 free finals after placing 13th in prelims (2:03.77).
Charles Pfeiffer was 13th in the 200 intermediate in 2:29.30.
Luke Stroud was 16th in the 50 free (24.87).
Dayne Winstead was 16th in the 100 back (1:11.82)
Brandon Niederhauser was tied for 16th in the 50 prelims (24.86). He just missed out on qualifying to the finals when he came up short in a swim-off for the final spot with two other swimmers. He also placed 19th in the prelims of the 100 free (57.22)
Will Davis was 10th in the 100 breast stroke (1:11.78) but was DQ’d in the finals. He was also 22nd in prelims of 200 free with 2:12.01 clocking.
