Tigers, Vikings find out their opponents
The Williamston Tigers and Plymouth Vikings won sectional championships Friday night to advance to the regional tournament.
On Saturday, those teams found out their N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 1-A East Regional tournament opponents and when they would play.
The unbeaten and top-ranked Tigers (27-0) will open girls regional play Wednesday at 7 p.m. against second-ranked Pender (28-3). The game will be played at J.H. Rose High School.
The winner will face the survivor between third-ranked East Bladen (26-3) and Cape Hatteras (23-3), who meet Wednesday at 8:30 p.m., for the regional title.
The 1-A East Regional girls championship game will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at J.H. Rose High School.
Plymouth (18-2) will open boys regional play against 10th-ranked Jones Senior (21-4) on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. at East Carolina University’s Minges Coliseum.
The winner will battle the survivor between Perquimans (21-5) and Pamlico (18-6), who play at 7 p.m., for the regional championship.
The 1-A East Regional boys championship game will be held Saturday at 5 p.m. at Minges Coliseum.
